Proof Confluent Tableau Calculi
A tableau calculus is proof confluent if every partial tableau proof for an unsatisfiable formula can be extended to a closed tableau. A rule application may be redundant but it can never prevent the construction of a proof; there are no “dead ends” in the proof search. Proof confluence is a prerequisite of (a) backtrackingfree proof search and (b) the generation of counter examples to non-theo...
متن کاملTableau Proof Systems for Justification Logics
In this paper we present tableau proof systems for various justification logics. We show that the tableau systems are sound and complete with respect to Mkrtychev models. In order to prove the completeness of the tableaux, we give a syntactic proof of cut elimination. We also show the subformula property for our tableaux.
متن کاملTableau methods of proof for modal logics
1 Introduction: In [1] Fitch proposed a new proof proceedure for several standard modal logics. The chief characteristic of this was the inclusion in the object language, of symbols representing worlds in Kripke models. In this paper we incorporate the device into a tableau proof system and it is seen that the resulting (propositional) proof system is highly analogous to a classical first order...
متن کاملClausal Intuitionistic Logic II - Tableau Proof Procedures
D Clausal intuitionistic logic is an extension of Horn-clause logic which permits the appearance of negations and embedded implications on the right-hand side of a rule, and interprets these new rules intuitionistically in a set of partial models. In this article the second of a pair, clausal intuitionistic logic, is shown to have a tableau proof procedure that generalizes Horn-clause refutatio...
متن کاملA Tableau-Based Proof Method for Temporal Logics of Knowledge and Belief
In this paper we deene two logics, KL n and BL n , and present tableau-based decision procedures for both. KL n is a temporal logic of knowledge. Thus, in addition to the usual connectives of linear discrete temporal logic, it contains a set of unary modal connectives for representing the knowledge possessed by agents. The logic BL n is somewhat similar; it is a temporal logic that contains con...
